Fit proves surprisingly little. A bed frame can match your mattress dimensions perfectly yet miss the support conditions its manufacturer requires, leaving you exposed if a later defect claim involves an unsuitable foundation. Size is only admission. Before you buy, compare the frame's construction with the warranty for your exact mattress model, not the seller's promise of compatibility.
Those gaps deserve suspicion. Slat spacing means the clear distance between adjacent slats, rather than the distance between their centers, and the permitted maximum can vary by mattress model. Get the actual measurement. Wider unsupported spans can increase bending and deflection under load, while slat width, stiffness and attachment also affect how the foundation distributes weight. Center support matters too. Where the warranty requires a center rail and legs reaching the floor, a decorative crossbar or a rail without floor contact may not satisfy the stated conditions.
Paperwork beats sales patter. Ask the frame seller for slat dimensions, gap measurements and center-support details, then check those specifications against the mattress maker's written warranty and foundation instructions. Keep the written answers. If the documents conflict or leave a requirement unclear, ask the mattress manufacturer to confirm the proposed setup before you spend, rather than assuming extra slats or a support board will solve it. Repairs are not permission. A claim's outcome depends on the warranty terms and applicable consumer law, but why buy a frame whose eligibility you still have to argue about?
