A thin matte black line can quiet a warm bathroom more than another beige wall ever will. The effect is not mystical; it is optics and brain wiring. Add a few dark, non-reflective lines and the brain suddenly gets clean edges, like switching on subtitles in a murky film.
Counterintuitively, the darker color lightens the cognitive load. Matte black trim or hardware creates high luminance contrast while avoiding glare because the surface scatters rather than mirrors light, reducing visual noise. Those lines operate as anchor points; they define planes, outline the vanity, frame the mirror, and give the shower a clear boundary.
