At those speeds, even small steering inputs can destabilize the long wheelbase chassis, so designers chase directional stability with carefully tuned trail, low center of mass, and tight manufacturing tolerances in the steering assembly. Tires borrow from high‑pressure track technology, trading comfort for minimal rolling resistance by reducing hysteresis losses in the rubber. On a smooth, closed course, with still air and a launch push to overcome the slow initial acceleration of such tall gearing, the combination of low CdA, efficient power transfer, and precise control hardware lets a bare human engine briefly share numbers with cars.
