Lower ride height shrinks the under-car gap, turning the floor into a crude Venturi nozzle, so static pressure drops under the chassis and effective downforce rises, provided the suspension geometry and camber curves keep the tire contact patch flat instead of letting bump steer and roll center migration undo the gains.
The counterintuitive part is that comfort dies so consistency can live. Stiffer springs and dampers limit pitch and roll, which stabilizes the center of pressure and keeps aerodynamic balance predictable, allowing a once-soft city cruiser, if its alignment and tire compound are chosen with the same discipline, to trace an apex more like a club-level track car than a showroom stock coupe.
